New dinosaur, nosed Large and Have No Thumbs

New dinosaur species found in northern Mexico. Named Latirhinus uitstlani, the dinosaur was found in the region of Coahuila and lived in the Late Cretaceus, about 73 million years ago.

Scientific publications dinosaur discovery was published in the journal Historical Biology, an international journal palaebiologi fields, past life. L uitstlani, as the name suggests, it has unique characteristics such as nose width.

"Also, the nose dinosaurs that have extra space for soft tissue structures, similar to an elastic pocket, for the purpose of appearance, self-knowledge and communication in general," said Albert Prieto-Márquez, leader of the research team, as quoted by Discovery, Wednesday (6/12 / 2012).

In the study, Prieto-Márquez which are post-doctoral researchers from the Bayerische Staatssammlung Paläontologie und für Geologie in Munich, Germany, and colleagues analyzed dinosaur fossils, Claudia Serrano Inés Branas.

He found, in addition to having a big nose, this dinosaur also has a muscular hind legs with three fingers. Meanwhile, the front legs are small and have four fingers. In other words, Prieto-Márquez found that this dinosaur had no thumbs.

"When walking and eating, L. uitstlani will run normally with four legs and run even when speed is needed, using a two-foot dinosaur. Tails lengthwise over backwards to give balance to the front of the body," said Prieto-Márquez.

Dinosaur discovery is important for several reasons. First, these findings add knowledge about dinosaurs hadrosaurid anatomy and evolution. Second, these findings fill the gap of knowledge about dinosaurs in the southern region of North America.

Third, it presents the relationship between dinosaurs dinosaurs in North America and South America. Finally, these findings confirm earlier speculation that the dinosaurs dominated the territory. Future studies are essential to reveal the size and shape of the dinosaur.
